Our Playground
The climbing Wall is finished and we can play on it. Extreme Dreams are coming back on Tuesday 23rd June to hold a training day for groups of 15 children at a time.
Playground News - May 2009
We now have our new planters built along the side of the bike shed. In these we're planting Climbing Hydrangeas which hopefully won't mind the wind and north facing aspect. Our shelter shed has had ithe floor re-concreted and levelled and the back and side walls have been pointed and painted.
The climbing wall compnay should be here shortly to lay the rubber crumb safety surfacing and fit the climbing holds. there will then be a training day provided by the company for everyone in the school.
The next stage of the shelter shed development should hopefully go ahead from August if we secure funding for a staged area and bench seating.
News!
We have won £7,700 from Awards for All and this will enable us to have the climbing wall installed in the shelter shed. This should be happening In May and June. Climbing holds will be put on the side and back wall and rubber safety flooring laid over the entire floor.
We are also planning to develop a staged and seating area at the front of the shed and will apply for grant funding to try and enable this.
( Be a Wednesday Gardener - if you have time to spare to weed or paint or tidy - join us on Wednesday mornings from 9.15- thanks)
Our playground is big considering we only have seventy six pupils. Everyone enjoys playing in it. We have a few accidents but our playground supervisor sees to them. Our playground is made of tar but is wearing away and has quite a lot of holes.
Anyone can go to the buddy stop if they don't have any one to play with and others will see them and go and play with them. The new P.1s get a buddy from P7 every year. They have their buddy throughout primary 1. A buddy helps them settle in and feel confident about school.
At the bottom of the school we have two benches,a metal dolphin and lots of plants. At the top of the school we have a big wooden octopus, a shelter shed and two walls where people play a game called cat and mouse. We have one big chess board that is painted on the ground. You can also play draughts on it. We have a garden which we are re modelling.
Most of the games we play are made up but we still have toys.We have stilts, tennis rackets, skittles, frizbees, connect four, and more. The Links is a big grassy area that we use to play sports like football, hockey, golf and we also go down for gym when it's sunny. At lunch time people go down to play football. Every body likes our play ground !!!!
