The Man Who Planted Trees
17 March 2008
On Wednesday the 5th of September Cromarty
Primary p4/5/6/7 went to see a puppet show in
Fortrose. The show was performed by two men. One
of them was using puppets the other was speaking and
acting.
It was very funny. The main story was about a man in
France who kept on planting trees. Nothing could stop
him; he just kept planting and planting and planting. One
day a member of the French Parliament came and
started to cut down most of the trees to make fuel for
the war. That was the tragedy of the story.
After the war the man planted more and more trees
until he had a huge forest.
One day he died of old age.
We would give a five star status

Nicola Morgan
25 February 2008

In August 2007 primary 6/7 had a visit from the author
Nicola Morgan. Nicola told us about how and
why she became an author. She showed us the books
she had written, and she gave us all a bookmark.
Then she gave us a form so that we could buy her books.

Nicola asked us to close our eyes and she would blow
a whistle and if we got a picture or name in our head
we would have this thing called synesthesia.

Some of us got her signature on our bookmarks.
We also got two more pieces of card which were called keep
your brain healthy. We asked her questions like if she
knew any other authors. Then she had to go but we really
enjoyed her visit.
George's Fishing Tips
25 February 2008
If you like fishing read this it has all the tips and tricks to be the best angler. Beach fishing is easy if you have the right gear. First young anglers need a 10 to 13ft rod and a beach caster reel. Next you need some strong line braided is best 25 pounder is ideal after that comes weights, hooks and bait when beach fishing lugworm, ragworm, peeler crab and fresh mackeral are all good bait. The best fish to catch are bass, whiting, sea trout, dabs and plaice good luck !!!!!!!!! HARBOUR FISHING Harbour fishing is fun and so are the items of tackle. Spinning rods are smaller than beach casters about 7 to 9ft. The reels don’t hold as much as beach reels. Spinners are shiny pieces of metal that vibrate in the water; tobies come in a range of shapes and sizes. They are shiny pieces of metal or copper which spin under water [much like spinners]. Mackeral season is when mackeral come in to harbours to feed fuirously. It starts in late May.
